The series is made up of five programmes that feature films on subjects like child exploitation, teenage depravity and life on the streets. The films include

Lilya 4-ever (2002) (top winner at the Gijón Film Festival), a film that uses documentary and television docudrama techniques from a critical perspective. In this film, director Lukas Moodysson (Lund, 1969) looks at the world of child prostitution in Russia today. Lick the Star (1998), a short film that was Sofia Coppola’s (New York, 1971) directorial debut and in which many features of her work can be seen, documents how the director arrived in the film world as a child actress and the process that took her “to the other side of the camera”. In a completely different vein is Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator (2002) by Helen Stickler (Crete, 1966), which uses the documentary form to look at the world of skaters and one of their idols, Mark “Gator” Rogowski, whose tragic fate culminated in his killing someone, a crime for which he is currently serving a prison sentence.
