The work of Alighiero Boetti (1940-1994) is usually situated at the beginning of arte povera, although in fact it contains a broader conceptual repertoire, one based on the temporal and processual dimension of art, but also on the notions of duality and identity. His work defies the boundaries of the usual categories and includes collective series and sets intended to question the world from the vantage point of the south, with a perspective that is both critical and political, building bridges between the East and the West, between ideas and mysticism.

This conversation serves as an introduction to the largest retrospective to be held to date on the Italian artist. alighiero boetti. game plan is co-produced by Tate Modern (London), MoMA (New York) and Museo Reina Sofía, and is curated by Lynne Cooke, Mark Godfrey and Christian Rattemeyer.
