This year, the Museo Reina Sofía Library and Documentation Centre bring World Book Day forward to Friday, 22 April, joining different Spanish museums and cultural centres in flooding cities with books. In this new instalment of BookCrossing, publications related to contemporary art will be freed up during the whole day.
BookCrossing is the act of leaving books in public spaces for other readers to find them and then do likewise, with the combination of these “freed” books building a wilderness of literary discoveries. All books in the initiative are labelled and recorded on the BrookCrossing website and contain the instructions required to facilitate readers’ participation in the campaign. The aim, to which museum libraries contribute, is to promote reading and the dissemination of knowledge on different cultural disciplines.
