The camera moves to and from, panning from inside to outside the small white room, which contains the video’s only character, Simo. Surrounded by objects, Simo, played by the actress Pilar Rebollar, keeps moving, convulsively, carrying fetishes in a world full of bags containing shoeboxes, jam jars and multiplying objects. The projection is shown in a red room that is supposed to recreate the space where the off-screen actions are happening, where the people other than Simo are. Simo’s obsessive piling up within her tiny private architecture, which seems to echo the video in its hermetic, elliptic narrative, does not even allow her the satisfaction of communicating with anyone else. Simo was a turning point in Jordi Colomer’s career: up to that point, the artist had not included a character in his work, but he does so with Simo, the anti-hero alter ego that came to the artist inspired by the ascetic Simon of the Desert, protagonist of Luis Buñuel’s film of the same name.
