Midstream is a collaborative project that aims to analyze the role of audiences conceived not only as consumers but also as producers of content, in a context influenced by the postmedia paradigm, specificity of production by contemporary artists, and new forms of cultural mediation.
This project seeks to find new hybrid midstream forms of publication and development for the cultural sphere within an experimental setting in artistic institutions from different points of Europe.
Midstream puts its activity into practice in three circles of the Mediterranean (Museo Reina Sofía, Madrid), the North Sea/Baltic (Latvian Center for Contemporary Art, Riga, Latvia), and the Central European region (european institue for progressive cultural policies, Vienna, Austria). Members have different sizes and scopes to enjoy the advantages offered by large and small institutions, supported by the strong cooperative links established in the past. One of the objectives of the project is to involve a growing number of participants in the three regions, and in the future, expand participation to all of Europe.
Midstream is a cooperative project co-financed by the Creative Europe of the European Union program.
