María Ribot Manzano, La Ribot, is a dancer, choreographer and visual artist. In this interview she comments on a time frame spanning the start of her career in dance to the development of multidisciplinary projects that have paved the way for other creators within the discipline and have served to reflect on the movement of the body and its relationships with space, objects and spectators, in addition to forming connections between the stage, choreographic language and exhibition space.
The video sees La Ribot explore some of the works in the Museo Reina Sofía Collection, such as S Liquid, 2000 (Distinguished Piece no. 33), Another pa amb tomàquet (2002) and Laughing Hole (2006), drawing from them to address the key theoretical concepts in her trajectory, for instance operator-body and intelligent-body, and reflect on what and who is original in dance, as well as how to respond to seemingly unsolvable questions such as those related to the forms of preserving and collecting the so-called “living arts”.
