Territories and Fictions. Thinking a New Way of the World
This presentation of holdings from the Museo Reina Sofía Collection, largely made up of recent acquisitions, approaches the languages and artistic practices that defined the period between the end of the 1990s and 2007 – both in Spain and internationally - by way of a series of shared questions that heralded the start of the century and run up to the present time.

Anne-Marie Schneider
In the imaginary of Anne-Marie Schneider (Chauny, Francia, 1962), the line refers to gestural writing and gives shape to the enigmatic world of personages whose bodies are often taken apart and fitted back together in fragments, prolonged in domestic space and projected on to the landscape. Schneider’s fascination with everyday situations and banal objects reveals a certain degree of explicit violence in her lines.

Film series. This Is not a Film. The Cinema of Marcel Broodthaers

Marcel Broodthaers. Cinéma Modèle. Painted vacuum-formed plastic plate, 1970

Marcel Broodthaers. Cinéma Modèle. Painted vacuum-formed plastic plate, 1970

The films of Marcel Broodthaers play a central role in defining his work, and for this very same reason they point to an undefined element in flight which at once resembles cinema but also ceases to do so. A medium Broodthaers would continue to systematically explore over a number of decades precisely to reaffirm its brittle and post-media nature, trapped inside the margins between writing and image, film and poetry, stuck between two times: the time of the exhibition and that other time in the screening room.

The series, a continuation of the retrospective on the artist, takes place in the screening theatre and comprises a chronological program, whereby 35 mm and 16 mm films are combined with readings of some of the key writings of the artist on cinema.
