Cindy Sherman
A catalogue published in conjunction with the Cindy Sherman show, which surveys her work via four different groups of photographs: Untitled Film Stills, Disgust Pictures, Sex Pictures and Horror Pictures. The essays here analyse the performative and at the same time static nature of her photography, as well as other aspects such as her interest in horror films and her work on the body and prosthetics, sexual difference and formlessness. In addition to texts by Rosa Olivares, Verena Lueken, Margrit Brehm and Peter Schjeldahl, it includes Hal Foster’s essay “The Real Thing” on the Lacanian concept of the real applied to contemporary art.
