Hans Haacke
Castles in the Sky
Hans Haacke is considered a pioneer and one of the main representatives of the so called institutional critique that took place in the late sixties. It displays earlier works, as well as analysis and considerations about the market and globalisation, in which the institutions contribute to alter the economic value of art, neutralising its subversive potential. It also highlights the project Castles in the Sky, thought specifically for the Museo Reina Sofía, taking into consideration the reality of a neighbourhood in the suburbs of Madrid, the Ensanche de Vallecas, where Haacke finds the images of the ruins that correspond to our contemporary society.
