Miroslaw Balka

ctrl

Miroslaw Balka presents a double exhibition proposal, ctrl, reaching from the Abadía de Santo Domingo de Silos to the Museo Reina Sofía’s Sala de Bóvedas. At the Silos installation he invites the attendees to a passing ritual, situating the spectator in their place of agent and public when circling the monastery. For the complementary part of the project held at the Museum’s headquarters in Madrid, the Polish artist transforms the two brick-vaulted rooms located in the cellars, adding large format wardrobes, referring to the wardrobe the Frank family used in Amsterdam to hide from the Nazis, says Balka. Didi-Huberman’s essay echoes these analogies.
